I know this looks like lots but it's actually quicker than you might think.
To share the palette and keep the very nice looking Anti-aliased transparencies:
In 'The Tool' (Don't ask what it is or where to get it)...
Open both Home & Away PNG's
Go to Edit | Edit Linkage
The only thing to be checked is "Convert into Direct color image before linkage"
Set "Linkage Folding Width" to '2'
Enter "Linking Image Size" to 512x256 of course
You should now see the PNG filenames appear in the box on the left. Both should have a tick next to them. Don't worry about the order.
Click OK
A new 1024x256 image should appear with both kits side by side.
Press Ctrl+M to check the Alpha
Now do your colour reduction as you usually would.
To remind you:
Output | 256 colours
Alpha | Tick the top and bottom boxes only - Priority: Slider all the way to the right
Sorting | Alpha value order
Now you get a new window with an indexed image of the previous 1024x256 image. And look! That's your new palette next to it!
Go to Edit | Divide and enter 512x256
Press OK
Now you get 2 new separate kits with the same palette! Hurrah!
Save and insert into the game.
Enjoy.
Saludos!!!
